Durability and Storage
When stored in a cool, dry place below 30°C (86°F) in the original unopened packaging, the shelf life of the mirror adhesive
DOWSIL™ 817 is 12 months from the date of manufacture.
How to use
Substrate preparation
Sealed surfaces should be clean, dry, stable and free from grease, dust and other contaminants that may affect adhesion. All
surfaces should be cleaned and degreased with a clean, oil and lint free cloth soaked in a suitable solvent such as DOWSIL™ R-40 Universal Solvent prior to sealant application. Check that the mirror is evenly coated, protected by paint and free from scratches.
Note: Ensure adequate ventilation when using any sealant. Avoid heat, sparks and open flame.
Method of application
The sealant is ready to use. Apply 10 mm wide vertical strips to the back of the mirror at 100 mm intervals. Then press the mirror to the surface, maintaining a constant stitch thickness of 2 mm for optimal curing and gluing.
Support the mirror for a minimum of 24 hours with adhesive tape. It will provide
good contact and minimal displacement. Allow air to circulate freely around the edge of the mirror to allow the sealant to cure.
