DOWSIL™ PV-804 Neutral Sealant

Neutral silicone used in the photovoltaic industry for sealing frames and gluing junction boxes

PV 804 silicone for photovoltaic panels provides permanent adhesion without a primer regardless of weather conditions, ensures permanent sealing of photovoltaic modules

Application:

  • Solar and photovoltaics
  • Gluing junction boxes to photovoltaic modules
  • Frame seals for photovoltaic modules.
  • Bonding of photovoltaic panels

    Features and Benefits:

    • Easy-to-use one-component silicone
    • Resistant to UV radiation and weather conditions
    • Strong, durable connection of photovoltaic boxes to the back sheets
    • It is UL certified
    • Primerless adhesion to common PV substrates such as glass, aluminum and common backing polymers
    • It protects the photovoltaic elements against mechanical shocks and cyclical thermal loads
    • One-component, moisture-curing neutral alkoxy silicone
    • Excellent stability over a wide range of temperatures, UV, water and mechanical shock
    • temperature resistant up to +105°C

    Benefits of the application

DOWSIL™ PV-804 Neutral Sealant provides long-term bonding and protection
against moisture, environmental degradation, mechanical and thermal shocks and vibrations where a product cured at room temperature is preferred.

    How to use

    Substrate preparation

All surfaces must be clean and dry. Degrease and wash off any impurities weakening adhesion. Suitable solvents include isopropyl alcohol, acetone or methyl ethyl ketone.
Some plastics may require special surface treatment for optimal adhesion.

    How to Apply

Apply DOWSIL™ PV-804 Neutral Sealant to one of the prepared surfaces, then quickly cover with the other substrate to be bonded. If exposed to moisture, the freshly applied material will "skin" in approximately 10 to 15 minutes at room temperature and 50% relative humidity. All tooling should be completed before this skin is formed. The surface is easy to work with a spatula. DOWSIL™ PV-804 Neutral Sealant will become dry in approximately 30 minutes.

    Curing time

After the skin is formed, curing continues inward from the surface. Within 24 hours (at room temperature and 50% relative humidity), DOWSIL™ PV-804 Neutral Sealant will cure to a depth of approximately 2mm.
