Lubricants for electrical applications

Electrical applications are broad in nature and can have myriad requirements, some of which may be completely opposed, such as conduction and dielectric. Wiring harnesses, contacts, switches, housings, etc. all have different needs. Products are available that are durable, moisture resistant, low friction, tacky to stay in place, and non-staining, to name some of the more common requirements. Proper lubricant selection is aided by carefully determining the important aspects of the requirements needed

Among electrical products, we can distinguish between conductive copper greases and dielectric insulating greases.

  • Anti-friction coatings
  • Anti-seize pastes
  • Silicone dielectric compounds
  • Dispersions and aerosols

The top product is the Molykote 4 Insulating Compound, a silicone dielectric compound used to lubricate internal components for easier installation, and to fill voids and gaps in connectors to increase electrical integrity.

MOLYKOTE 4 Electrically insulating mass has increased the ease of installation by up to 20%. Additionally, the mixture provides electrically efficient joints.
